Competition Rules

Competition will be held on a single day.

Competitors shall sing their program of eight songs consecutively without a break.

Competitors may bring their own accompanists.

Female applicants shall be born in 1980 or later. Male applicants shall be born in 1978 or later.

Application period starts on April 1 and ends on May 20, 2010. Application forms must have been received until registration deadline by Istanbul University State Conservatory Secretariat to be valid.

Competitors shall form their programs from the following groups of lieder according to their epoch and date of composition; two classical (1730-1800), two romantic (1800-1850), two post-romantic (1850-1900) and two contemporary (20th and 21st century).

Program proposals comprising of art songs of all nations (lied, chanson, song, etc.) from the mentioned periods will be acceptable.

Contemporary lieder need not be of Turkish composers.

Order of appearance will be determined by drawing of lots on 30 May, Sunday at 11:00, at the posted competition premises.

Competitors not bringing their own accompanists will be provided with a suitable accompanist by the Foundation.

After the order of appearance has been defined with the draw, the rehearsals will take place in the order assigned by the jury.

The Competition will start at 10:00 on the already announced date and location.
